NWE Redemption Pay-Per-View - September 11, 2011. Allstate Arena in Chicago, IL.
HISTORY MADE - For the first time in NWE history, the NWE Title was defended not once, but twice. Denzel Cain went first and Chris Jackson second. But at the end of the night, just who would walk out NWE Champion? It was a night of highs, lows, title changes and high emotion. Read on to find out what happened.
Denzel Cain beats NWE Champion Alex Kingston for the title:
It's not often that the NWE Championship is defended to start a show. But that's what happened, as Denzel Cain challenged Alex Kingston for the prestigious title after earning the opportunity this past Wednesday on Showdown in a Cage with Chris Jackson.
Cain showed the effects of said Cage match, though. Throughout the contest, his knee gave out on him as he tried various manoeuvres. The cunning Champ - Kingston - was quick (and clever) to take advantage of Cain's disability. But it wouldn't stop the Harlem native grabbing the proverbial brass ring, with a rush of adrenaline he fought through the pain and defeated Kingston for the title with the Cained. But his night wasn't over, as he'd defend the NWE Championship against Chris Jackson in the main event!
Jaleel (w/ Bill Danielson) beat Kurt Harris:
After ending their business relationship with Harris 2 weeks ago, Bill Danielson had his remaining client, Jaleel, put the exclamation mark on things. The Samoan Brute used every ounce of venom in his body as he piled on the pain against his former World Tag Team Championship partner.
Deep South Destruction beat The OwMen and The Butler Brothers - #1 Contenders Match:
After defeating both The OwMen and The Butler Brothers, Deep South Destruction will get their much sought after shot at NWE World Tag Team Champions The Maxwell Brothers. The thrilling, 3-way contest ended when Turpin and Lamb “DSD'd” Reece Butler, who's brother Drew had taken out the OwMen with a diving plauncha to the outside.
Christian Jax berates Deelon Smith in his hometown:
Moments before stepping into the ring with Deelon Smith, Christian Jax took one more opportunity to brag. Introduced by his manager, the former Mr Hughes, now Horatio Hughes, Jax let rip. In his tirade, he called Smith a “bitter disappointment” which Hughes couldn't wait to get rid of. He then promised Smith's hometown crowd in the Allstate Arena that he would embarrass them, too, by losing to Jax.
Deelon Smith beats Christian Jax (w/ Horatio Hughes):
Fortunately, Jax's words DIDN'T come true. Whether it was the home town advantage or motivation from the beat-down he suffered at Heatwave, Deelon Smith pulled through. Even with Horatio Hughes pulling out all the stops, Smith dispelled the claim, at least for tonight, that he was a “bitter disappointment”.
Gafur Maari beats Ramsay “Iron Man” Steele:
After being bullied, sneak attacked and berated over the last month, Gafur Maari got his revenge tonight. The first and only Indian NWE Original overcame Ramsay “Iron Man” Steele with his signature submission the Bite of the Dragon.
Kenny Kidd beats NWE International Champion Ryan Knight for the title:
Ryan Knight made a mistake by not taking Kenny Kidd seriously. That mistake cost him the NWE International Championship, one month after he won it in a match with Kidd. During their encounter at Heatwave, Knight used an exposed turnbuckle to wrap up a victory and win the title, but this time, Kidd had him scouted.
After telling Allan Black in a backstage interview that winning the International Championship would define his singles career thus far, Kidd was determined to prove himself in the ring with the NWE legend.
Of course Knight tried to go to the well again, but Kidd prevented it by splashing the champion in the corner. That then left Knight open for Kidd's Oklahoma Stampede, where he picked up the win and became the brand-new NWE International Champion!
NWE United States Champion Curtis Hagan beats Taru Hayashi to retain:
By the time NWE United States Champion Curtis Hagan stepped into the ring, two championships had changed hands. But that didn't stop Hagan, who had not forgotten the brutal assault he suffered at the hands of a Singapore Cane wielding Taru Hayashi two weeks ago.
In their rematch for the Title, where Singapore Cane use was legal, it would have been easy for Hagan's revenge-fuelled motivation to get the better of him. But showing his veteran instincts, Hagan remained level headed to the end, where he retained the title following a Superkick.
But Hayashi's night wasn't over. Post-match, Hagan's emotions spilled over and this time, he put the Cane to good use letting Hayashi feel the welts like Hagan had. Hayashi's DISORDER stable mates Goto and Nagata leapt into the ring and stop Hagan.
The numbers game would've consumed Hagan if not for Nicholas Price - the victim of a DISORDER cane attack on Wednesday's Showdown - who aided the U.S. Champion in ridding the ring of the Japanese gang.
Olegg Nastrum (w/ Jimmy Cash) beats Morgan Murray:
“I'm going to stamp out the bullying by stamping on the bully.” - Morgan Murray, Showdown (7/9/11).
It seems Olegg Nastrum is unstoppable. Despite Morgan Murray's courageous efforts to stand up to the monster he referred to as the “Baron of Bullying”, the brave Scotsman was - like many before him - not enough to put an end to Nastrum's reign of pain. Can anyone put an end to this destructive monster's path of peril, or is NWE doomed to be haunted by Nastrum for a long time to come?
“The Hunter” Chris Jackson beats NWE Champion Denzel Cain for the title:
Earlier in the night, Denzel Cain put forth a valiant effort fighting with a bad knee and ended up winning the NWE Championship. Sadly, that reign didn't last very long nor end very well. Cain's second match of the night, and the second defence of the NWE title, culminated with “The Hunter” Chris Jackson becoming the new NWE Champion.
Jackson isn't called The Hunter for nothing. Once he realised Cain's leg wasn't up the standard, he went for it relentlessly, working perfectly towards Jackson's Figure 4 Leg Lock. Cain withstood the crippling hold longer than just about anyone else in history before finally succumbing to it, tapping out and relinquishing the championship he'd fought so hard to earn. Chris Jackson is your new NWE Champion!
Corey Chambers beats William Sanchez in a Street Fight:
The night wasn't over. The main event, for a sold out Chicago crowd was perhaps the most intense, personal bout on the card. Former best friends colliding in a story of backstabbing, jealousy and ego. Corey Chambers vs. William Sanchez in a Street Fight.
It was never going to be pretty from the get-go with everything that's gone on, and the bout quickly devolved into it's namesake - a fight. The two battled tooth-and-nail, Sanchez trying to quite literally end Chambers' career and Chambers fighting to get redemption.
They fought through the crowd, into the back, even into the parking lot, but the match ended in the ring. Chambers managed to dodge the heavy steel steps which Sanchez had planned to crushed his skull with. The deranged Original then tried to pick them up to use them again, but Chambers cut him off with a stiff boot to the chest.
They battled back and forth in a fist fight, which Sanchez got the upper hand on and managed to hit a Sanchez Sting. But that wasn't enough. Sanchez then took a table from under the ring and set it up over the stairs, before lifting Chambers up and looking to impale the former NWE Champion on the steel. Thankfully, Chambers managed to counter out before he suffered a career-ending, spine breaking powerbomb.
Chambers then grabbed Sanchez's head and leapt over the table, using his Corey Cutter to put Sanchez through the wood and win the match. The Allstate Arena almost lost it's roof, as the Chicagoan crowd erupted for Chambers hard earned victory. Though Chambers stood tall, having cleared his name, it was evident that they'd both be feeling the effects of their clash for many months to come!
